Survivors include husband Bill Rowell, of the home three children: Darrell Newton and wife Brenda Brenda Darling and husband Mike and Karen Dobias and husband Ken eight grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren a daughter in law, Kim two step-daughters: Marsha Adams, and Patti Christopherson and husband Tim and two step-sons: Deems Rowell, and Billy Rowell and wife Kim.The funeral service is an important point of closure for those who have suffered a recent loss, often marking just the beginning of collective mourning. Maydelene was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Bonnie Edgemon her first husband, Royce Newton a son, Doyle Newton a brother, Donald Edgemon a sister Thelma June Edgemon and a step-daughter, Jean Finn. She continued her tradition of canning fruit and picking up pecans after she and Bill were married. They raised a big garden, and she canned hundreds of jars of vegetables and fruit during that time. Madelene was passionate about visiting shut-ins in the community. Following his death, she continued to be active in church at Corum Assembly of God until her health no longer allowed her to do so. For years she drove the church van at Praise Assembly, bringing kids to church. She was very involved in kid's ministries, especially when Royce was alive. She had a knack for learning people's life stories when they came in. Maydelene loved interacting with people at the shop.
She continued running "the shop" for many years, and she was affectionately known as "The Plumbing Lady". They, along with Darrell established Newton's Plumbing and Electric in 1974.
They later opened Newton's Paint and Floor Covering in 1971. She sold Tupperware for several years, resulting in her being awarded a Tupperware car. Maydelene would spend hours cleaning the glass milk bottles by hand and delivered milk to their customers, many times with the kids in the car. They ran the dairy business for eight years. The original dairy barn is still standing at Shane Ledford's place. Maydelene and Royce started their dairy business in 1958 south of Comanche, and in 1961 moved it west of town. Years later following his death she married Bill Rowell on December 3, 2000. On Novemshe and Royce Newton were united in marriage. Maydelene was born Apin Temple, OK to Clifford and Bonnie (Cline) Edgemon. Viewing will be Monday 2:00-7:00 and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00-7:00. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. at Ray of Hope Church, with Pastor Mike McCord and Pastor John Johnson officiating. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m. Maydelene Edgemon Newton Rowell, a longtime Comanche resident peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, Novemat her home, following a lengthy illness.
